Secured packaging

Product imitations and duplicates are an inescapable part of the consumer industry today. Drug anti-counterfeit programmes are being run to protect the drugs in pharmacy business. A traceable barcode is printed on the medicine, which helps in tracing the originality of the pill. Customers can scan from their smartphones or simply SMS the 10 digit barcode number to the pharmaceutical company from anywhere and verify the legitimacy of the tablet. Now smart packaging solution from various brands helps pharmaceutical companies adhere to guidelines and pedigree mandates from government and state regulators, ensuring that the drug supply is safe and secure. These solutions are designed to help stem the potentially steep revenue losses that can result from counterfeiting and product diversion, while improving profitability and reducing cost.

All good things come in great packaging

Today products that have attractive labelling and packaging tend to lure their target customers more than the contents inside.

No wonder print packaging technology is at an all-time high. The market is led by who's serving its target customers the best product deal; with paramount ingredients and superlative look and feel.

Packaging not only protects the food from oxidation, but also promises its quality, authenticity, safety and trust. Furthermore, traceability of the product's origin is now possible with the print packaging technology in the market.

The packaging industry claims to comprise three types of packaging: Self-adhesive labels which mark the origin and mention relative information about the product on it; Flexible or variable packaging for the wrappers of chocolates and chips, shrink wraps etc.; and, lastly, the big Carton packaging.

For these qualities, they are used in various industry sectors like food industry, pharmaceuticals industry, tea industry, spice industry, distempers colors industry, agro processing industry, confectionery industry, dairy industry and detergent industry. The medical industry also uses these packaging products as they are safe for use even in such sensitive areas. These are apt for this sector as they can resists tears and punctures but opens easily, which is just right for gas sterilization.

Flexible packaging material varieties

With their huge demand across the world, there are a wide variety of packaging materials available in the market today. Among the various varieties are laminated pouches, jumbo bags, packaging bags, zipper pouches (both in plastic and other silver coated materials), plastic zipper pouches, moisture barrier bags, standup zipper pouches and printed rolls. Benchmark Hospitality Embraces Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the next big thing in hotel technology. Sometimes called software-as-a-service, cloud computing refers to hotel systems and software hosted at a brand or management company headquarters, a server farm or even a vendor facility. Hotels on the cloud no longer have the burden of housing and servicing hardware onsite; instead, a secure high-speed Internet connection gives them access to all their operational technologies.

Darrin Pinkham and Benchmark Hospitality International are quickly becoming evangelists for cloud computing. The Houston-based operator of 30 conference centers, hotels and resorts is in the middle of a project launched late last year to move as many of its hotels and systems to the cloud as possible. The company’s tech vendors, including Northwind, Aptech, Delphi, Micros and others, are helping with the transition.

Homewood Suites Boosts Housekeepers, Engineers

In the modern world of hotelkeeping, the most important managers at the majority of properties are the executive housekeeper and chief engineer. As the executive committee at many hotels shrinks, housekeepers and engineers must take on additional responsibilities and, more importantly, assume key leadership roles in their hotels, management and ownership companies and even brand companies.

Homewood Suites, Hilton’s upscale extended-stay brand, recognizes this new dynamic in the industry and in response recently held a series of Suitekeeping and Maintenance Summits that brought together nearly 400 executive suitekeepers and chief engineers at four regional sites for two days each. The discussions covered some of the practical aspects of housekeeping and engineering but also sought to reinforce the attendees’ importance as leaders within their organizations.

Adopting the Right Strategy to Build Your Greenhouse

Greenhouse is a building made out of glass or transparent plastic so that indoor plants can receive sufficient amount of sunshine to make their own food, necessary for their survival. It provides a controlled environment, irrespective of the climate fluctuations occurring outside to support steady and healthy growth of plants.
If you live in cold or hot region or in a place, which faces heavy downpour for greater part of the year then you need greenhouse to protect your outdoor plants from the vagaries of the nature. The cost and effort that goes in building a greenhouse depends upon the budget you have for your project, type and numbers of plants that you wish to grow, your local weather or climate and purpose of building greenhouse, whether for personal or commercial use.

There are experts who offer their greenhouse building services, which you can avail, provided you are ready to spend more money from your pocket. If you are more of technical person and are confident that you can build your own greenhouse by following freely available greenhouse building guides and layouts, available on Internet then you will definitely save lot of money.

Most of the greenhouses, today use plastic sheets or glass to let in the sunlight necessary for photosynthesis. If your area receives heavy rainfall, snowfall or storms, it is necessary to install tempered glass panes in place of plastic sheets for a sturdier greenhouse. For colder regions, where it snows for major time of the year, it is recommended to use treated timber in construction of base and side of the greenhouse, along with glazed glass panes. Proper insulation techniques should be used to ensure that heat within the greenhouse does not escape out, especially during chilly months. You can also use concrete base to give your greenhouse strong foundation but should make it slip proof to prevent any accidents.  If you need a lighter greenhouse you can employ round PVC plastic pipes joined together with each other with strong adhesive and metallic pipe clamps.

A greenhouse in hot regions should have rooftop made of translucent plastic sheet, instead of glass to reduce heat radiation and maintain the desired temperature. You can also use humidifiers and balance their working with ventilators like exhaust fans to control the humidity and temperature to comfortable levels within greenhouse for sound growth of your vegetables, flowers and other plant produce. Hence by following the right greenhouse building strategy, you get healthy plants and enjoy their produce in cost-effective manner.

Exquisite ceramic tiles worth a fortune

A couple of months ago, Maneka Gandhi thought of a novel way to raise money for her animal charity- have an exhibition-sale of old ceramic tiles. Now why would anyone want to sell tiles, you may well ask.

And you might add a query on what makes them an essential luxury too.... Hold that thought as I delve a little into recent history. Builders in India- especially in older cities like Kolkata and Mumbai- once used to happily demolish old mansions with scarce regard for their interior decor. Today they are much more canny.

Just as they carefully prise out teakwood doors, windows and frames to sell to collectors, they now do the same for the colourful ceramic tiles that once adorned wainscotings and bathrooms, terraces and even gateposts.

That is because these tiles, usually bearing graceful Art Nouveau and Art Deco motifs are hotsellers today for not only their rare antique value but because even new versions cannot match the lustre and workmanship of the old. No wonder Ms Gandhi could price each large tile at Rs 2000 and each small one for Rs 1500 and find buyers aplenty!

Though those these tiles were at least 50 years old- more likely they are around 80 years old- and made by factories long-defunct in places like Wankaner in Gujarat, their colours are incredibly luminescent, and their texture smooth as silk.

Indeed, if timeless style is a penchant, then these ceramic tiles are an essential luxury for nothing made recently can even compare with them, though tile factories today have the benefit of better technology. No wonder one well-heeled connoisseur assured Ms Gandhi that he would buy up whatever was left after from the sale!

Ceramic Tiles That Look Like Wallpaper

Wallpaper has come back into fashion in a big way over the past few years as people seek to add more personality and character to their living spaces. The wealth of colours, patterns and textures available from today’s extensive varieties of wallpapers is unparalleled.

However, many people still favour ceramic tiles due to the myriad benefits to be had from this versatile material. Hardwearing, robust, easy to clean and great for use in areas where moisture is present, ceramic tiles can solve a multitude of problems.

French ceramic tile manufacturer Novoceram has produced a range of tiles that combines the benefits of these two types of wallcoverings. The Art collection of ceramic tiles features three different designs that bring the beauty and intricacy of wallpaper together with the functionality and resistance of ceramic tiles.

Florilège features bright, elegant colours that depict a tree with great floral detail and a new tactile texture reminiscent of the silky softness of fabric. Inspired by the charm of the motifs found in 18th century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper, the tiles come in four different design variations (ground, peacock, cage and sky) that can be used in different combinations to alter the end result and provide complete compositional freedom.

The Très Jouy range is inspired by the long tradition of using Toile de Jouy as wallpaper. Novoceram has reinvented it by creating a ceramic panel that can be used to cover an entire wall or simply to embellish it with an unusual picture.

The Ratlam Watershed Special Project

The Ratlam Watershed special project (RWSP) had been designed and executed by World Vision India in 12 villages of Ratlam ADP area. This special project has certain distinct activities targeting towards achievement of its respective focal areas; i.e., to treat soil, water and improve the agriculture product potential for the selected communities.

Flood irrigation, a traditional farming technique was used extensively in this area. It has many disadvantages on the crop and the field as well. The disadvantages of flood irrigation are as follow,

a.Due to flooding some area of the field gets more water and some area gets less water.
b.Agriculture land gets saturated with water where there is excess water.
c.Flooding water also increases the soil erosion and washes away the good fertile soil from the farm field.

World Vision India provided sprinkler irrigation unit and HDPE pipes for two communities at Borpani and Kesarpura. Through this facility about 75 acres of land has been covered under irrigation which is more suitable for all field crops like Wheat, Gram, Pulses as well as Vegetables, Cotton, Soya bean, cultivation with less water more irrigation in our area. Optic Kitchens

By law, all packaged foods must have a list of their ingredients marked on them. As consumers, we have a right to know what we are putting into our bodies. Similarly, many modern restaurants have what is known as an optic kitchen which allows patrons to see what goes into what they are about to eat, how hygienic or otherwise are the conditions in which they are being made. Optic kitchens are a guarantee of transparency, quite literally, in catering establishments.

Now, 24x7 IRCTC kitchen in Noida

Railway passengers, executives and managers living in and around Noida can now avail of hygienic Indian and Chinese fare at an affordable rate.

Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has set up a central kitchen in Noida, with a capacity of preparing 25,000 meals every day.

Besides Railways, IRCTC aims to cater to PSUs, MNCs, BPOs and several educational institutions in and around Noida, where there is a huge demand for fresh food at a reasonable price.

The 24x7 kitchen will serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. Initially, the cuisine will be restricted to Indian and Chinese, but the menu will be expanded to Continental dishes in the second phase.

After the catering job in trains was snatched from IRCTC and was given back to railways, the PSU is trying to diversify its business to keep itself afloat. It seeks to capture the fast growing food & beverage market by setting up more such kitchens in other parts of the country.
