Owning a Chirpy Little Backyard Garden

Imagine the sight of colorful flowers blooming in your garden and beautiful birds flying around, singing melodious song.  Delightful, isn’t it? Birds make garden a lively place and to attract them it is necessary to create a garden landscape which promises them comfortable habitat, where they spend their time to the delight of the garden owners.

Adding new food sources is the best way of attracting the birds to your backyard garden. Increasing the range of specialized foods entices new bird species to visit your garden. If you install variety of water features like ponds, waterfall, fountains and birth baths, you will definitely find new birds in around the water sources, drinking, taking bath and looking for food. The sight and sound of running water gives your garden designs a more natural look and attracts birds.

Adding birdhouses and artificial nests at safe points in the garden like tree tops assures birds of safe habitat and encourages them to stay on for a longer time. You can also keep nesting materials like dried weeds, leaves, straw, etc so that it becomes easy for the birds to collect them and build nest of their choice. If you are bird lover and have good knowledge about their habits then you should plant the right types of plants, which appeal them most. Planting native plants is a good idea because native birds will flock around them as they are accustomed to the produce.

A bird-friendly garden offers different layers of vegetation, which different types of birds can use according to their own requirements. Some birds like to forage the food from ground, while some seek their food from dense little shrubs because it provides them protection from the predators while they search their food.  Birds prefer long, narrow bed filled with thick and colorful plants over small and scattered beds because such a setting provides right camouflage.  Adding beautiful flowering plants attracts smaller birds that are more dependent on the nectar to your garden  and gives  you the opportunity to listen to their chirps and songs as you relax on the bench in your lovely little backyard garden.
